any info on Washington Hilton & Towers?

My wife and I are thinking of staying at the Washington Hilton sometime in July or August. Any comments on this hotel or any recomm. on other hotels like this. AAA is offering the hotel for $108/night. Looking for a hotel close to metro and restaurants. Will be staying mid week till end of weekend.

The Hilton isn't very close to Metro. It's a few blocks from Dupont Circle. It's a very large convention hotel and you may feel a tad lost if there's a big meeting going on all around you. I'd choose the Radisson Barcelo if you want to be in that area. I bet you can get a simila rate.

thanks for the info. I was under the impression that the Hilton was only a block or two away from the metro. and the reason I chose this hotel because it looked like a classy hotel with many ammenities. tell me why you like the Barcelo. thanks

Eric, the Washington Hilton IS a classy hotel, but I support John's suggestion for the Radisson Barcelo. It's much closer to the metro and has HUGE rooms. You will still have access to the same wonderful neighborhood. That said, the Washington Hilton at $108 is a very good rate and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. The Barcelo is a little more on a human scale, since it is not really a convention hotel.

Hello -

The Washington Hilton is close to the metro - about 3 blocks directly up Connecticut Avenue. It is very large, but the hotel Radisson that has been recommended is not small and initmate by any means - about 8 stories and a couple of hundred rooms. One advantage to the Hilton is that (for a downtown location) there is a great pool area at teh back of the hotel. I'd stay there.
