Ah, "Runaway". Great record. I was thinking of Del's "Keep Searchin'." There are two different songs named "On the Road Again", one by Willie, one by Canned Heat. Roy Orbison also has a riveting version of "I Drove All Night."
Glen Campbell also has "Wichita Lineman" ("I am a lineman for the county, and I drive the main road". How about "California Girls", "Massachusetts", or "San Francisco".
I do recall that Arlo Guthrie recorded "City of New Orleans." I think it was written by Steve Goodman.
Gosh, how could I forget "Daytripper" and "Drive My Car" (beep, beep, hmm, beep, yeah!).

Just last week, I was mildly shocked when the local radio played
*Who are You? - The Who
*then asked for Katrina donations and played
*Why Should I Care? - The Who
I may not have the titles correct, but the bands and the main verses are correct.

"American City Suite" by Cashman & West
"Hungry Heart" by Springsteen. Springsteen has pumped out a bunch of great road songs.
"Wildflowers" by Tom Petty ("you belong somewhere you feel free..."
Stay by Jackson Browne

I know the Arlo Guthrie version of The City of New Orleans too
Good Morning America how are ya? Don't you know me, I'm your native son. I'm a train they call The City of New Orleans, and I've gone (?) 500 miles before the day is done.
Speaking of the Guthries - how about This Land is My Land by his dad Woody?
