I spent February in Italy and had to miss TAR. Next week I'm going to India for a month, and don't think I'll be missing this go-round of TAR-family style.

massagediva,
Any chance you could post photos of yourself simulating Killer Fatigue on an Indian train? That might help us get by until the real Amazing Race returns! |
Yep. Race tracks, trailer parks and convenience stores. That's what this country is all about. TRUE excitement. :P
|
This season is a total embarassment--the producers should be ashamed of themselves. All they could think of to showcase Mississippi and Alabama were a trailer park, a gas station, and a featureless state park where the teams could either gamble and saw logs??
I could get behind an all-USA season if it were to focus on substantive history, things even Americans would find educational. But this? No thanks. Plus, why on earth did they have to send the teams to a raceway when they knew the Weavers' patriarch was killed at one? What could they have been thinking, putting kids through that? |
I thought those party bikes were great.
When they read the clue that told them to do one lap on the speedway, I immediately started thinking of how cool it would be to take a race car around the track. Then when they showed the party bikes - somehow the image of a clown car popped into my mind - I started laughing hysterically. I thought this episode was a tad bit more entertaining than the past few. |
"Plus, why on earth did they have to send the teams to a raceway when they knew the Weavers' patriarch was killed at one?"
I know. If they had the teams picked first, then it was inexcusable to make that the task. And if they had the tasks set up, then why pick a team with that history? |
I have to admit, being from Mississippi myself, I was appalled that the two sites they picked to visit in my home state were a mobile home dealership and a gas station. Would it have taken the contestants so far off course to have them visit Natchez or Vicksburg? Or even the MS Gulf Coast, while it was still there.
Thanks a heap, CBS, for reinforcing the negative stereotypes people have about the South. |
Hey, all of you who think it is stupid, boring, can't sit through the whole hour (but then ask who got eliminated), DON"T WATCH!!!!!
I don't like this one nearly as much as the previous TAR's. But there certainly are some interesting family dynamics going on, and that I do enjoy. There is a big difference having children and teenagers on the show. But, then again, there wer a lot of people on previous TAR's that I would not classify as being "adult" or would classify as being adult in age only. So, I am going to continue to watch and enjoy the differences. |
There are 7 episodes left and they most likely will have 3 teams in the final episode. If that is correct, they can only eliminate a team in half of the next 6 spisodes.
This coming week is due to be either the first half of a two part or a non elimination round. Also, it is time for either a fast forward or yield option. Keith |
Amen. I agree.
And this is the only one I feel like I have lived. You just don't see all the highlights and pretty spots when you drive across any country. I personally hate how many billboards there are. I'd hope that some would watch with their kids and talk about some of the dynamics that are happening. It's a lot better than watching situation comedy with kids, where the problems are all scripted and come out unknotted in 30 minutes. |
JJ5, your comment about Fathers and Daughters is probably why the women on couple teams always rely on the men to make the decisions. Funny that they manage on OK when they are on women teams!
|
Well said, Catbert. And I REALLY think it is a good deal to watch something other than couples for young WOMEN especially.
Now there is something to think about, huh! Women can REALLY get along without men when they are big girls. What a concept! What did Germaine Greer say, "I need a man, like a fish needs a bicycle." |
That's funny! I have that T-shirt.
|
Last night was the first I've seen of this series. I'm rather unimpressed and wondered if they've had to use any public transit or will be. It is boring watching "SUV Races", altho I chuckled about the mooning. I guess if I miss the rest of the episodes I'll not be broken-hearted.
I do wish a new thread would be started each week "Amazing Race - 10/25" instead of one long and getting longer thread. |
Thanks for the update, Keith.
