The best of the South: a giant chair, a gas station, a trailer park. Hmmmm.
Amazing how clueless some of these families are.
I'm glad they are leaving the States next week. This wk I was getting pretty bored with it (even though I was a TAR fan). I think it could be "amazing" in the States but the roadblocks and detours haven't been that exciting.
I'll stick around for another week. Notice no roadblock last nite? Enjoy-la! |
Which team was eliminated? I can't sit through the full hour this season, and missed the last 10 minues!
Normally love the show , exotic locales etc....... I can't even sit through 1 show !! Supposedly they are off to Central America ( Belize , Panama ,Costa Rica ) Perhaps a bit more exciting to watch ! lol
I too hate this season's concept - -BORING!!! Can we write to the network? Do they care?
The 4 blonde sisters who scream are te most annoying.....I'm almost reayd to give up for this season - - -it was a BIG mistake! |
Dreamer2, it was the other Louisiana family. For the 2nd time, it happened because the father thought he knew more than the rest of the family and he didn't.

oh my, oh my, oh my....I was excited to see my Mom's old hometown of Anniston included, then one of the blond daughters said "When I see the word Alabama I think of ugly"...jeez....and when they arrived in New Orleans and were in Preservation Hall, it was a little emotional...they have no idea how lucky they were to be there..I did giggle when the Weaver mom said it was one of the 5 Great Lakes, tee hee..it is overall a bit boring to me too....
Yeah , it really is too bad , the last season was really great ! Seems a bit of a flop ....
I'm not impressed this season either. Maybe if the families were looking for trailers in a foreign land it would be more interesting?
I did think the bicycle thingy was cool, but a lap around track was like 2 1/2 miles. I wonder how long it took. But I think in seasons past, the camera/editing crew would have made it seem like the families were close and would have added theme music to heighten the intensity (even if it wasn't) With the New Orleans family eliminated, I was wondering, how I'd do with a challenge around Durham (say within 100 miles). Would my 'knowledge' of the area end up being a disadvantage because I think I know the area and wouldn't ask for help. The daugher's breakdown along the way had me concerned about her mental health. Maybe it a teenager thing and she'll develope some coping skills along the way, but to me, it was another example of why children shouldn't particiapte in the race. |
You're right, ncgirl. It's too much stress on the kids, IMHO. Most of these young teenage people haven't had a lot of practice in getting the butt end of things overall- and it's not good for them to be recorded in the process of learning. Their parents have the right to say ok to the public view- but I don't know if it is such a hot idea for the underage offspring who really don't know the repercussions. And also many kids in the USA don't have much experience in disappointment.
This race isn't about travel as much as it is about parent/child dynamics. Why is it that so many fathers underrate their sons and daughters maturity and decision making abilities? It's the same in counseling- regardless of the level of "closeness" mothers seem to understand the "real" ability levels of the kids much more than fathers do here. Maybe it has to do with actual contact time. Weavers, Bransons, Paolos, God-------skis, Lenz will be the last 5, IMHO. The others are just waiting to have their turn to fall into last. I could forgive Mrs. Weaver any and all geographical mis-statements because of her treatment of NOT babying her kids when it truly counts. Her role modeling is superb. When the World Series is on, I will be a non-viewer. I do not have HBO and actually love watching what works and what doesn't in family dynamics. |
Did anyone happen to see any of the follow-up discussion on whatever morning show does it? I was struck, even shocked, that there was no comment at the end about having been to New Orleans before Katrina, or whether the family's home was still intact and family ok. Has it been mentioned anywhere?
This season is boring, dull and uninspiring (did I mention boring?) I've been watching because I've been a fan of Race from the first series, but this one is torture to watch :-) Let's all hope the producers get wise and bring back foreign itineries and couples again before we all fall asleep looking at people getting in and out of SUV's.
I know the U.S. is not this boring, I've traveled alot all over the country. |
i could not believe how boring last nights episode was. it seemed to me it was 80% of listening to these people in their vans driving. no exciting road blocks. we get to watch people either saw a piece of wood or flip cards. i hope some cbs employee is reading some of these posts so we don't have to go through another season like this one.
I hope so as well , I have not watched a full episode yet ..... Bring back Rob and Amber , South Africa , Peru , Turkey .... Whirling dervishes , cave exploring , wall climbing !!!
Boy that one challenge last night was exciting, drive to a BP gas station and find the store clerk. It doesn't get much more exciting than that.
Cassandra,
There was a long intro about Katrina and if you go to cbs.com, there is a report of how it affected the Schroeders. They evacuated and stayed with the Rogers family in Shreveport. A CBS camera crew went back to their house with them when they were allowed to do so. Their house was flooded waist deep. |
I fell asleep so I'll get caught up next week I guess. Leaving the country? That's good news.
..I was curious about an update too Barbara...I have combed the website but can't find the update..looked in story and bios....
I actually did read that on the CBS website, but I can't find it now. If I do, I'll post a link. However, their Early Show appearance touched on it.
