O.P. asks <i>"are we going to follow this on the US Board? Or, the Europe Board or Other Topics?"</i> and since the Race takes place world-wide, "Other" or maybe "Travelers Lounge" seems most appropriate.
Skipped it last night to watch PBS Bob Dylan special. |
The Blacks really had little chance. Their kids are too young to help in a game like Amazing Race. Furthermore, they seemed a little out of their element in the outdoors. The Paolos should be slated to go rather soon. Mrs. Paolo seems to be dead weight. Any of the other teams seem as good a bet as any other team to win.

I also had to turn down the volume - the shrieking of the sisters and the widow and her kids - my ears were ringing.
I also have 3 sisters - way back when they were taking applications for TAR8 (this is the 8th season, right?) we were joking around that we should apply - our gimmick would be "instant drama". A couple of reasons we could have never done the show - once we all hit the mat at the pit stop, instead of jumping around and shrieking for joy, we probably would have all glared at each other and traded a few well placed digs - and by the time we were sent home (I have no illusions that we could have won) one sister would have been left by the roadside. :D |
The fact that the Weaver Mom actually had to ask if Pennsylvania was a state made my jaw drop!!!! I'm pretty sure she's the one that actually asked someone for directions to "a town called Soho". I howled!!! Maybe because I work in Soho that I was amazed at that. She's going to give us blondes a bad rep. :)
Also the fact that a bunch of teams didn't know what the George Washington Bride was (Washington Bridge) surprised me. Do the teams know where they are starting from before the race? I would read up a bit on general facts of the city I'd be starting from. I so enjoyed watching last night's episode. I live in North Jersey and had fun watching the teams lost in Fort Lee -- I kept yelling directions at the TV!!! |
the pink ladies have to go! they act like idiots, shrieking, laughing, hanging out of the car windows yelling stupid things at people. ugh! they are like a pack of 12 yr olds.
i was pulling for the black family. sad to see them get eliminated so soon, especially since they have never left the east coast before! i thought for sure (and was so hoping) the paolos were going to lose. don't worry, they'll be jetting around the world soon enough. |
I was hoping the pink ladies would loose. They were obnoxious.
suzanne, I was under the impression that the race was taped in June. When did you see this outside your window? islandbeachangel, You can't really blame someone for not knowing Soho and the Washington Bridge if they are from another state. Is Brooklyn Park an area of Minneapolis, a park, or a suburb? Also, there are thousands of famous bridges in the US which I am sure you do not know. I got a charge out of the poor guy who was in the race with his three sons-in-law. Could be very interesting. I wanted to slap those Paolo kids. Total disrespect for their mother. |
Is it just me, or has this AR season started out on a very "coarse" note. I mean, did we really have to know that the brother passed gas? Did we really have to watch him vomit? I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan too, but did we really need to hear the "Yankees suck" chant? Four people constantly shouting over each other in a closed-in car does not make for very good T.V., IMO. The pink ladies are beyond annoying. The Paolos are obnoxiously disrespectful. I'm glad the Florida team won some money, so they can buy some shorts that fit. (oh, and the praying for directions got old, also) I hope future shows are more entertaining and less like nails on a chalkboard. |
lvk, I thought the farting thing was hallarious! The way his sister had to just sit there and put up with it. If they edited out all the farting, fighting, arguing, cat fights, and stumbles it would just be a boring race...which I would not watch.
|
I thought the farting thing was funny also. I figured out what he'd done before she said anything..too funny. I guess I just wasn't raised well. :D

Rumor has it they don't leave the U.S. this season due to overseas travel issues with the little kids. The language barriers and jockeying for seats on the international flights has always been a huge part of why I like the show so much. If they stick to road tripping throughout the U.S., it'll lose a lot of its edge. Watching someone try to find a farm in PA just isn't very exciting.
|
why weren't the paolo team penalized for not having their clue?
|
I turned it off, LOL. Couldn't stand the noise etc. Guess that makes me a bore but I honestly was so bored with this show.
|
You know what LoveItaly? I was so excited that I fell asleep! So, I guess I turned it off too!
|
LOL iceeu2! Thank you, that makes me feel better, honest. I went back to my computer and tried to catch up on my emails. Take good care!
|
The paolo team wasn't penalized because they went back for their clue. So I guess the extra time it took to go back was really their penalty.
|
I don't think the Paolo family did go back for their clue. They don't need to have the clue with them, as long as they go where it told them to go. As long as they remembered, they were OK. It is just not OK to skip something you were supposed to do or to go someplace you were supposed to go.
My thoughts are similar to others voiced here -- I liked it more than I thought I would, I wish those women would stop their screaming, I liked the Blacks, but they really didn't look like they would be competitive, and the Paolo family was pretty obnoxious. I also thought the "franks" guys looked familiar but couldn't place them. I do hope they will do something other than drive around the U.S. |
Does the "background" music bug anyone else? Between the shreiking sisters and the music I couldn't stand it!
|
I hope the Paolo family goes soon. The sons are so disrespectful to their mother that it is painful to watch. Their dad just sits their and lets them bad mouth their mother. They need their mouths washed out with soap!!!
I really liked the Blacks, but I think they were TOO nice and not agressive enough. Stay tuned, MY |
I wanted to slap those Paolo boys silly! I hope they go next week.
|
The part I found most humorous was in the buggy pull when the kids were inside and mom and dad pushing/pulling and the boy starts singing "she'll be coming around the mountain" and they pass the other team (I think the siblings...look more physically fit) that was too much!! Also, i could not believe that only 1 person recognized the "frank" guys, they were terrific with their "hey, fat a**" remarks to each other. The Blacks didn't have enough drive for this race, for heavens sake man...row that boat! I have to say that when the Weaver mom was run over I was terrified for those kids since their dad was run over and killed last year, I can't imagine what those few mintues were like. I also asked the DH is they are going to stay in the US or what, I mean they did get tents, seems like they might be about to get good use out of those tents. I'd like to see the dad + 3 daughters do well, dad with his 3 sons-in-law and the team with the kids.
So far so good. |
