Alaska tips please
I've never been to Alaska. I heard once about a train trip through remote spots, and I don't want to cruise there but would like short trips on water to see things from that perspective. All hotel and other tips welcome. I'm hoping to go next summer.

Do a search on Alaska here on Fodor's. There have been a lot of similar questions. We found b&b's to be the best type of lodging for us although you'll find typical hotels in large cities like Anchorage. Our favorite day trip on the water was the longest boat trip offered by Major Marine out of Seward. There are also popular trips out of Whittier but be aware that the entrance to Whittier, a former secret military base, is via a one way tunnel so you will have to make sure to get thru the tunnel on time. Tunnel traffic lines up similar to getting on a ferry. I liked going to AK to be there for 4th of July, the parade in Kenai is fun, and going to the Forest Fair in Girdwood. Salmon fishing starts in the Russian River. You have a chance of seeing moose with young calves. You may have to book early for 2021 if everyone who wanted to go this year and couldn't opts for 2021.

Who knows if you will even be able to go in 2021 without a COVID test and self isolation plan.
STATE TRAVEL MANDATE: All out of state visitors are required to arrive in the state with a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 72 hours. If you have taken a test within 72 hours of arrival but have not received your results, you must quarantine until you receive your results. If you were unable to take a test prior to arrival, you can take a test at the airport for $250 and quarantine until you receive results. All results must be submitted via the Alaska Travel Portal. More information about current state travel mandates can be found here.
Have you done any reasearch at all?
Try the official website of Alaska Railroad for starters

Yes, the train from Anchorage to Seward and a cruise on Major Marine is a good option. They also have a hotel in Seward. More info on their website. Probably not worth paying for a cruise with a meal, since buffets are gone.
