please forgive if this is posted twice...sometimes this website works..sometimes not.
Alamo is having a double deal now. Double (delta air) miles & 20% off for 3+ day rentals. You need to mention ID number 579160 and rate code FQ at the time of reservations. Sorry I don't have specific info on Orlando. I just wanted to pass on the coupon deal!

Steve- We have used Alamo car rentals in Orlando twice. The bus picks you up near baggage claim in the airport terminal and takes you to the Alamo rental site - about a 10 minute drive. The bus drops you and your luggage at an outdoor waiting area - have a companion stay with the luggage while you go in to do paperwork. It is too difficult to drag everything along. Once you getthe car you can pull right up to the other side of the area the bus dropped you at.
We prefer this off-site airport rental (have done both) as we hate to navagate the traffic back into the airport.
Be sure to fill up the gas tank an exit or 2 before you get off the highway returning the car. Gas was twice the price at the station right by Alamo.

Steve, I do not want to sound too negative but we will never use Alamo again. I hope that if you have already finsihed your trip you did not have the bad experiences we did. We were heading for WDW late March and had Alamo as part of the package. Got to Airport at 3:45pm and did not get to WDW until 7:00pm because of Alamo wait. Just made the Hoopdidoo (sp) Review with 1 minute to spare and then checked in at WDW at 10:30pm. I was sure that if we arrived in Orlando by This was 2 years ago and maybe they have cleaned up their act. If you used them let us know.

I overlapped with my sister in Orlando last week of February. She had an immediate bus to Alamo with the 150 other package plan people from her plane, then waited for over 1 hour in line to get her car. I had to wait 15 minutes for shuttle to Thrifty, 5 minute ride, then immediate rental. Mine was only $18 a day. Both were fast return, but mine was closer to the airport.

We just returned from Orlando, and we did use Alamo. I would highly suggest that you don't use Alamo. When we arrived to pickup the car we waited in line for 2 hrs. And when we dropeed the car off we waited almost an hour which caused us to almost miss our flight. We had to run to get on our plane. NOT FUN!!! People were complaining at Alamo, but the personnel were not very nice. They said thats why you get cheaper rates, but we said we rather have better service. We will take our business elsewhere next time. Heard thers car rental places at the airport that are much quicker. GOOD LUCK!!!

I don't know -- we were in Orlando 3 weeks ago and used National. Waited in line (in the airport) for over an hour. When I finally got up to the counter my $131 reservation somehow became $217. These were base prices before all the other things they tack on. The counterperson basically said -- oh well. I fumed the rest of the week! On the plus side, when I got home I called National and they did refund the overcharge.

I can verify the stories about long waiting times at the Alamo facility near Orlando Airport. We had a 2.5 hour wait on April 17th, from 7:45 to 10:15 pm. When we finally got the car, there was still what appeared to be a 2-3 hour wait for incoming customers, meaning that they would be there well after midnight. This also happened to us in April 1996. We will never use Alamo again, anywhere.
