2 1/2 week vacation in National parks - how to pack/laundry
Will be on vacation June 15 and returning home July 2. Going by train from Phila to Santa Fe. Touring New Mexico - 2 nights, Mesa Verde - 2 nights, Lake Powell - 2 nights, Bryce, Zion, Las Vegas - 2 nights, Grand Canyon- 2 nights and leaving from Flagstaff by train to return to Phila.
I've never been on vacation sooo long. Not quite sure how to pack!! Shorts and tee-shirts/tank tops.
Do we pack light and do laundry? Or overpack as usual!
How does one fit laundry in?
As far as our accomodations go, we are staying inside all the parks. Flamingo in LasVegas.
This is a serious question - no comments about turning underware inside out, or other comments along that line!!
Thanks in advance

OK, I'm a little crazy, but I have good memories of doing laundry on vacation. Maybe the best was in Yosemite Valley at the housekeeping camp (we stayed at a motel outside the park, we don't camp). A good oportunity to read, relax. If you are taking the train, I think you will appreciate packing as lite as possible.

I have some fond memories of doing laundry while on vacation too!
Personally, I'd pack light and plan on stopping here and there to do laundry. Take a good book or plan to walk around small-town USA for an hour or so while the laundry is in the machine!

We take two week vacations every year in the Rockies and pretty much take shorts, tshirts, jeans and jackets. It can get pretty chilly at night.
I use pack mates--those big zip lock bags that have one way valves at one end. You close the bag and roll it up to push all the air out. It saves SO much space.
As far as laundry, be sure to bring some sort of laundry bag to hold your laundry until you do it.
You will want to take time to just do normal "housekeeping" activities. This gives you a chance to regroup, repack bags, send post cards, make phone calls, etc.
