How does a "World Phone Card" function?

Some products offer a kind of call back via SMS

I have a German cellphone and travel to TAZ, Kenya e.g.
As the cellphone originates in Germany me being in Ken/Taz calling from there which rates have to be considered?

Roaming costs?

I have no idea.....

Please enlighten me.

Thamk you!

The best place to get that information is from your operator. They should be able to tell you if they have roaming agreements with other operators in the place you will be travelling and what the extra (e.g. roaming) costs will be.

You could also look at buying a country-specific SIM, either before you go (see Telestial or ekit.com) or when you get there.

I have an ekit.com global SIM card. If you look at their website it explains in detail how it works. It doesn't matter where your phone comes from, only what type of SIM card you have in it.

Kristina - I have the global SIM too, but if the OPs only going to one or two countries it may be overkill. Ekit also sells country SIMs.
