Nazca Lines from Ica?
We are going to be visiting Peru for the first time in the end of April. We would like to spend a few days exploring Nazca lines, Islas Ballestas, and maybe some pisco/wine vinyards. We are hoping to use Huacachina as our base for 2 nights because my husband is interested in spending the afternoons sandboarding.
If we stay in Huacachina, what is the easiest way to do a flight over the Nazca lines? I have heard that it is almost a 2 hour bus ride from Ica to Nazca and I am not sure if Cruz del Sur would be able to get us to Nazca in time for a morning flight (which I think is the best time to fly). How much would a cab be from Huacachina to Nazca and how long would this take? Alternatively, I have heard that there are flights over Nazca that leave directly from Ica. However, I can't seem to find out how to do this. Has anyone tried this? If so, what flight/tour company did you use and how much was it? Thank you very much!

If I recall correctly you would catch the 9:30 bus from Ica and it is approximately 2.5 hours to Nazca. There are constantly flights so when you get there you can pretty much get on the next plane. Your hotel should be able to arrange this for you.
You can fly out of Ica. It is more expensive and you don't spend as much time over the lines (so I'm told), but it depends on your desire for convienence. I want to say the packages I saw were $189 per person. But that was over a year and a half ago.
On a side note, You might want to pick up the bus at the Dolphin resort instead of the bus terminal in Ica. It isn't in a very nice neighborhood.
