Lima-Cusco-Puno-Lima
Hi, I will be in Peru for 14 days early July.
Am keen to see Lima, Cusco and surrounds, and Puno (Lake Titatica & Islands). What's the best way to travel? flying? bus? train? is it easier to book online or in peru? what experiences did you have? costs?
Also what is the weather like that time of year and what type of clothing would you advise?
Thanks!!

I just returned from a trip to Peru. We flew from Lima to Cusco, bus from Cusco to Puno, bus to Juliaca and flew from there to Lima. The area between Cusco and Puno is beautiful enough to withstand the long haul bus trip. A private car with driver would be even better. That way you can stop whenever you want. If so, don't miss Andahuaylillas. It's a sleepy little town with a beautiful church. It is such a beautiful country. Enjoy.

we flew from LIma to Cuzco, booked on line with Lan from home before we left. Took a bus tour from Cuzco to Puno and then arranged an overnight on lake Titicaca on Isla Amantani with a family, (Highlight of the trip). We booked some of our tours while we were there with a local travel agent.
We flew back to Cuzco. Driving once between the two was enough. We were there in June and I have never been so cold at night, and I live in Canada! as mentioned bring layers.
Costs were not as cheap as Asia, but lower than US or Canada. You can get hotels for $20 a nite or $50 a nite and be comfortable.
