I’ve used receipt reward apps for shopping, but I’m curious if there’s anything similar for travel receipts — like flights, hotels, ride-hailing, etc.
Does anyone know apps that support travel orders?

Many credit card companies have a reward programme linked to airline Frequent Flyer award programmes. And of course many, if not most airlines have their own reward programmes in the form of Frequent Flyer points gained by taking flights.

In Australia, the two major supermarkets have their own loyalty reward programmes which accrue points at their own and allied companies that can be used in various ways.

eg: If I use my American Express card to buy groceries at Woolworths, I accrue points to my Amex a:c which are transferred to my Qantas frequent flyer a/c. I also accrue points in my Woolworths Everyday Rewards account.
Same process if I use Visa.

It seems like flights and cards are well covered already. If hotels and other travel bookings have an equivalent yet? Just wondering if I’m missing anything.

I am not sure where you are located and what i use might apply so adding it here. I am a Capitol One account holder. I don't have their credit card but if I use their shopping app, I get reward money. Sometimes it goes into my account but other times it goes into the app account and I can let it accrue to redeem for gift cards. The gift cards some times sell out but they do eventually come back. The app will also run through all discounts as you have to buy through it.

I mention this as i try and use it when booking hotels. You can be a hotel rewards member and also use it. So I guess more bang for your buck. I have been getting Dicks sporting gift cards for my brother whose kids play sports as they are always needing something. It may be something worth looking into if its in your country.

sassy - Would you explain how this works? Is this a completely different app aside from the Capitol One app you use for banking?

Yes the Capital One shopping app is a different one than the banking app. I found it because they advertise for it on their banking website but it’s free for anyone who isn’t a member. I used to get small amounts of change from purchases put into my account but now mostly the rewards go in the shopping app where I can redeem for whatever gift cards they have available.

I use the app when shopping at places like chewy, Target, Walmart, Viator, Marriott, Home Depot, Old Navy, Gap, Kohls and other stores. I tried for airlines but didn’t find it useful. It is interesting to note that if you look at something to know buy immediately. If you wait until the next day, they will send an email where the reward is greater. I just sometimes forget to use it and it can be frustrating to use. It can be slow and hard to navigate at times.

I agree that credit cards are the best option = accumulating points.

I think most people would use hotel or airline frequent flyer/user programs that are already in place. Rather than trying to scan random receipts and get something back for that.
