Cheap Flight

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to book a trip in the next couple of months and I’m hoping to find a really good deal on flights. I’m flexible with dates and even open to nearby airports if it makes a difference, but I’m not sure what actually works best these days.

Do you usually book months in advance, or have you had better luck waiting for last minute deals? Are there specific days or times when prices tend to drop? I’ve also seen mixed advice about using comparison sites vs booking directly with airlines.

If you’ve recently managed to grab a cheap ticket, I’d love to hear how you did it. Any tips, tools, or strategies that really made a difference?

Welcome to Fodors. Unfortunately us mere mortals are not smarter than the airline logarithms. They juggle fares daily, even hourly depending on market forces. Far in advance or last minute is also pretty much irrelevant. One issue is that waiting too long could mean flights are totally sold out.

You can set fare alerts on various sites so you are notified when / if your target fare pops up. Best strategy really is when you see a fare you can live with, book it and not look back.
