Asheville, NC in August With Young Children

Hi,

Thinking about taking a summer vacation for around 3 nights to Asheville, NC. Our children will be 8 and 4 at the time (flying from NJ, first time flying with our children). Is there enough around the area for a few days for kids that age? I know Great Smokey Mountain National Park is there, but not sure if there are enough activities for kids of that age.

thank you!

Pretty well every city has a playground or two.

They can view the black bears in Great Smoky Mts. National Park (45 minutes west of Asheville). I remember seeing them when I was a kid. A park ranger can tell you the best way to do that. Also, they can view Soco Falls, a double waterfall easily accessible and only 45 minutes west of Asheville.
