Trip Report. Miami January 2026
We stayed at The Courtyard Downtown and used uber.
Very good restaurants. Especially Tam Tam. Reserve ahead.
Two food halls, MIA and Julia and Henry’s,were disappointing.
Our weather varied from 45-81 degrees.
Enjoyed museums, your focus may differ.
Freedom Center, about Cuban immigration.
Vizcaya, house and gardens.
Margulies
el espacio
ICA
Rubell
Perez
Wolfsonian, in S Beach, about design.
happy to answer questions!

How long were you in Miami? Can you recommend a few other restaurants? Where are the murals located?
We will be in Miami for only 2 nights in March. We have hotel reservations at Kimpton Angler's Hotel. I haven't done any research yet which is so unlike me. I haven't bought any guidebooks since it's only a 2-night trip. We should have close to 2 full days because our flight home is at 6PM. This will be our first time in Miami.

Yes, Miami
Glad to, KarenWoo. I have read many reports from you.
Where is your hotel? Which part of Miami?
the murals are at Wynwood Walls and environs…we used Uber. Short distances but there can be heavy traffic.
i also enjoyed seeing South Beach in Miami Beach…not far.
i would skip the food hslls but Pollos y Jarras, Meraki, Marabu and Motek were other good restaurants. Those are many different cuisines.
if you go to The Rubell, the restaurant inside is a little overpriced but had excellent eggplant parm!
many restaurants have outdoor seating.
we had five nights plus the better part of two travel days!
happy to answer more questions!

Sophia, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I would skip both food halls, in favor of other options. I cannot rave enough about Tam Tam, its braised escarole, and its restroom. All are musts. Let me just say: a NYC branch where I live would be most welcome.
in Wynwood, Cielito is a standout for paletas, various popsicles. Although anyone else who remembers 10 cent ones….multiply by 50 to 100, depending upon toppings.
and in Allapattah, there are exactly two places to eat, the cafes at Superblue and the Rubell. We ate at the latter and split the superb eggplant parm.
