New England road trip
We are going on a 2 week road trip of the new england area beginning this Friday. It seems like many places have closed for the year. We are mainly interested in scenery, but I did want to visit the squam lake science center and some farms. Unfortunately I found out they are really closed by the end of October or rather the cruise on the lake. Does anyone know if Arcadia National Park, Franonia Notch State Park, Smuggler's Notch State Park and the cruise boats on Lake Winnipesaukee open/available? I'm hoping that even though we missed the fall foliage it'll still be pretty. Any suggestions will be welcome. We don't have any set plans.

Lake sunapee cruises end end of October. The Flume has closed. They are rescuing hikers because of winter conditions inmthe mountains, Concord NH area has some color here and there. Apple PYO picking has ended some places but near Concord isApple Hill in Concord near exit 17 I93 and Gould Hill in Hopkinton. Both have nice distant views and farmstands are still open. Gould Hill also makes hard cider and sometimes has music on weekends in its tasting room.
Nearby Winslow State Park is on Wilmot side of small Mt. Kearsarge. I'm not sure if auto road is open. It leads to a park with a nice view toward Lake Sunapee. This is near New London NH, a beautiful college town with some good restaurants.
From Concord it's a nice drive heading out Pleasant St to Hopkinton, Contookcook, Warner with an easy detour to Gould Hill. You can visit Warner Museums. Head to Wilmot and New London. Then head to Andover, Salisbury and Boscawen with a quick detour to Apple Hill.
You can also try southern NH like Portsmouth, check for their boat tours. We like inland rivers one. If you go to Portland Maine the Casco Bay ferry will be running. I don't think there will be great foliage but it's an interesting boat ride with stops at various islands.

The foliage in the north will be mostly down but in southern New England the oaks are still hanging on. In Connecticut the show has been much more muted than the best years but there are still some areas with the deeper reds, marooon, rusts, tans that are quite nice. National parks may be affected by the shutdown but the coast is still beautiful.
If finding good food or lodging is a problem, look near cities or at the junction of major roads or highways where people are year round.
