A Travel Blog?
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I might like to begin a blog about my travel with emphasis on food, and anything else that comes to mind.
Some posters here have great blogs, including Tina, Elizabeth from Toronto whose name I don't know, Anuj, etc etc.
But where do I begin, with Wordpress??
Anything negative I should know before beginning this project???

You might consider joining a website for travel blogging that’s already up a running & managed for you. I’ve done quite a lot of writing for travelgumbo.com, begun about 12 years ago by friends & who’d welcome your contributions, I’m sure. No messing around with starting from scratch & do as much as you’d like with congenial hosts. Or an easy way to see how you like doing it.
Here’s the contact link: https://www.travelgumbo.com/contact/
PHeymont is my go-to guy.

I use a program that was originally called Sparkle but is now called Sitely, but I'm a Mac user. It is pretty easy, and I had no experience. My husband started our blog with an old progam called iWeb but that got discontinued and he threw up his hands. I took it over when I retired. If you are not an Mac user, I have no idea. Wordpress gets mixed reviews. It also took us some time to find an affordable place to host it, since the host for the original blog wanted a whole boatload of money.
Program is here https://sitely.app

I'm a MacUser, if that helps..I need to look into this shortly...I think there are several reasons, for me, that indicate I would be best off without all of my reports on one or two forums; right now, I post here and on www.HungryOnion, org but that latter is mostly about food...a successor to Chowhound.
I'd love to be able to ramble on about my wanderings and not worrying much about saying what comes to mind.....
I remember this site in the "old days (I joined in 2005) and there was so much more back and forth, and fun discussions...even some posters who were not universally liked were able to say their piece as long as it was not lewd or very offensive......(remember the multi-monikered person who lived in Liguria...?? To name just one...and what about Patrick..and Dukey???). You might not agree with them, and others, but they sure added something to this forum....at least in my opinion....
I don't say much that would fall into that category but I wonder, still, why so many former'y active posters have "deserted' this forum....have they "matured" out to travel forums? (Been "paroled out the back door??"). Have they found a home somewhere else?? I did look at the Fodor's Facebook site, I think it's called Fodor's Friends, but I guess I did not look at the right pages but there seemed to be more stories about pets than about travel....
I've found so much helpful info here on this site, but something seems flat these days and I can't out my finger on why this is..certainly there are far less posters here than there were even ten years ago....maybe people just lost interest......can we mount a recruitment campaign??
Anyway, I think it would be fun to begin my own blog..nothing serious and no vision of making money, but just a project, without fear of saying "something wrong!! and words that will still be here, somewhere, for all time..(that last might haunt me, but still.....seems like a fun project, and I could link my posts here if that is permitted....
