San Luis Obispo County wineries

We are planning a SLO trip for this October. I'm an old Cal Poly guy and date back to the Pesenti and Rotta days. I know those times are past, but are there any new or old wineries that might have some of that mom and pop feeling left? We have a few favorites in the more glitzy and polished category, but hope springs eternal for some of the old school spirit. Thank you for any suggestions.

Check out the Edna Valley for lots of choices. Talley Vineyards is family owned near Arroyo Grande.
Saucilito Canyon winery is popular. Also wineries in Paso and towards Cambria on the coast.

Are you on FB? If so, join the group called Paso Robles Wine Fanatics. There are a bunch of mom and pop wineries around and they will point you in the right direction. Our favorite right now if Paix Sur Terre (means peace on earth) that is owned and run by a young family. Very good and unusual varieties of whites (Vermintino, Uni Blanc, Picpoul Blanc) and excellent Mourvedres.

Poster and avian photographer extraordinaire 'dcd' was just in that area and has commented on wines around there, including Paso.
He'll return from Africa soon and may be available for questions.
I am done. the end

I’m sure your trip is passed but for next time- come down to Santa Barbara County- try Rancho Sisquoc Winery, Bien Nacido and Foxen. All have small tasting rooms just south of Santa Maria and will have the atmosphere you’re looking for along with excellent wines and tasting experience!
