Itinerary Check & Tour Recommendations

Hello all,
Thanks in advance for helping me out here.

I've been reading the blogs, forums, articles on Costa Rica for a little while now. And geeze there's so many options, things to do, places to see. I think after long last I've dialed it down to a few locations. I am looking to see if this itinerary looks feasible and also recommendations on tours in each of the areas. It seems like most areas have a lot of the same. SO...my question is what should we do where!!!

Background: We are a family of three, husband, me, and will be 8 year old daughter. We like the adventurous activities but also need some down time.We are heading for a month next February (I know it's a long way off - I'm a planner, it's my happy place)

OK, here it goes:

Fly in to Liberia
Origins Lodge - 2 full days, 3 nights
- was thinking about Rio Celeste from here
Arenal: Hotel Arenal springs resort & spa - 5 full days, 6 nights
-Question: Best must do tours not traveling toooo far away unless it's super worth it
- Question: Should we rent a car here.....We had planned on private transfers as this strangely saves money and there seems to be no way to pick up the car in Liberia and drop it off somewhere near Santa Teresa.
Monteverde: Senda - 3 full days, 4 nights
- Question: Best must do tours
Santa Theresa: AirB&B - 6 full days, 7 nights
- Question: Are there any local agencies that rent out houses. I know AirB&B has pretty significant fees for both renters and home owners, I'd rather just pay the owner...
- Question: What are the must dos and/or best tours
- Question: It looks like renting ATVs for the week is a thing..True?
Osa: Copa De Arbol 6 days, 7 nights (we would fly over via San Jose)
- Question: best tours? or things to do
Fly out of San Jose

Does this Itinerary give us a pretty good snap shot of Costa Rica? I wanted to head to the Eastern coast but I don't want to move around toooooo much. It was in between Osa and Puerto Viejo
Should we consider different hotels/Lodges?
Is the time spent in each area appropriate?
I stayed away from ManualA as we are already hitting a pretty touristy area with Arenal
Any other comments or suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks a million

We had planned on private transfers and then renting a car in Areanl when we are there and an ATV in Santa Tereasa. This, strangely, saves money and there seems to be no way to pick up the car in Liberia and drop it off somewhere close to Santa Thereas or Cobano airports. Thoughts, comments??

This looks like a great itinerary. We have always found that having a car is best in Costa Rica - especially if you want to take advantage of many activities in Arenal and Monteverde, since they can be a distance apart. Maybe rent and return to Liberia after your Arenal/Monteverde stops? Only a couple suggestions - rafting in the Arenal area is the best and there are many options. One MUST do is in Monteverde. Be sure to book a guided walk through the Cloud Forest in the national preserve. We saw so many people walking on their own and walking right by amazing wildlife - not one but THREE quetzals - mom, dad, baby. This was very, very rare, but we've seen single quetzals other times and the folks without guides walked right by them. Finish up the time there with a visit to the hummingbird garden near the entrance - a once in a lifetime experience! Have a wonderful trip - you won't want to come home. And I love that you plan a year in advance - my happy place as well!
