Japan 1 week Itinerary help
Interested in going to Japan in March and would only be able to go for 1 week. Planning to go to following places: Kyoto, Tokyo, Nara, Mt. Fuji. Is below itinerary doable? We are not huge fans of city life, prefer spending time to go see nature or hike.
Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo (travel day) pick up pocket wifi and exchange JR Pass voucher for the actual Rail Pass Stay in hotel near Tokyo station
Go to Kinkaku-ji Temple, Golden Pavilion, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo (travel day) pick up pocket wifi and exchange JR Pass voucher for the actual Rail Pass Stay in hotel near Tokyo station
Day 2-3: Ride the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto
Go to Fushimi Inari-taisha: trail to the peak of Mt. InariGo to Kinkaku-ji Temple, Golden Pavilion, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Day 4: Check out of hotel and go to Kyoto Station to Nara. See Kofukuji Temple: Five-Story Wooden Pagoda and Todaiji Japan temple and go to Nara Deer Park
Day 5: Back to Kyoto then onward to Tokyo. Day trip to Mt. Fuji to see Lake Kawaguchiko
And Aokigahara Forest
Day 6: Tokyo Skytree and tower
Day 7: Flight back to USA – travel day

Just wondering why you are checking out of your Kyoto hotel on day 4. Why not just do a day trip to Nara. Agree day 5 is not a great idea. Do not understand day 6. JR Pass now too expensive for what you plan. If you only have one week I would rather do Tokyo, Nara, Hakone and Kamakura or Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Himeiji.
