Bali- Ubud and Beach in March!
My husband and I are going to Bali for 2 weeks to visit our daughter and celebrate a special anniversary. I am a bit late (ok really late) in planning and could use some help!
We would like to be in or near Ubud for the first week to be near where she is based. Then we would like to go to the beach for the second week. Our budget is $300-475/night.
For Ubud I was thinking of staying at the COMO Uma or Viceroy or Samaya, but am open to suggestions.
I am struggling to pick the beach as we don't want a totally touristy and crowded area but do want it interesting. We went to Jimbaran Bay on our honeymoon so want to explore a different place. Our daughter suggested Seminyak, Nusa Dua or Uluwatu. She also suggested maybe going north to Lovina or taking a trip to Nusa Penida. Please help!
Any recommendations for not to miss activities is also helpful.
Thank you!

I'm afraid I can't help with hotels, but you might find some useful information about things to do in / around Ubud in my trip report. The section on Bali begins with post # 128. Enjoy!

Thank you, that sounds like an amazing trip! And some great suggestions too. I am really getting excited for Bali!
I panicked and booked the COMO Uma for the first week. It said they had one room left and I didn't want to lose it. So now I am focusing on the hotel for the second week. I am unsure which beach to go with.

I would stay away from Seminyak. Nusa Dua is very much resort accomodation.
We are going in May and staying in Nusa Dua for the first 3 nights. We stay at Ayodya Palace which is right on the beach and a special section of the Ayodya Resort. At the Ayodya Palace you have club benefits that are great.
There are lovely resorts here. But there is not much of the Bali here. But a great place to relax.
For our final 3 nights we are going to Sanur. Have you looked here. We will be staying at Tandjung Sari. However, there is also they Hyatt and the Ayana.

March is a great time to visit Bali!
Splitting your time between Ubud and a beach destination sounds perfect. For beaches, I’d suggest Sanur if you want something relaxed and less crowded, or Uluwatu for stunning views and a more dramatic vibe. Both are quieter than Seminyak or Kuta and would make a lovely contrast to Ubud.
Have an amazing trip and happy anniversary!
