We've made flight reservations to be in Gautemala for 10 days towards end of December. Antigua, Lake Atitlan, and Tikal are on top of our list but considering the aging parents, I think we can perhaps fit only two of these into our itinerary. I'm very keen on Tikal. Between Antigua and Lake Atitlan, which one should we prefer? We love history, culture, and can do easy hikes. Thanks.

What are your thoughts upon arriving at Atitlan/Panajachel?

Not too sure. One-day check out the various villages by boat. One-day take a day tour to Chichicastanengo.
