Puebla & Oaxaca live music & performance recommendations?
Hi folks - we'll be in Puebla & Oaxaca late Oct/early Nov.
We enjoy live music, from classical to blues and rock, and live performances including dance and plays. Any recommendations on venues to check out or performances to see would be appreciated, especially if they're tied to Mexico's culture and history.
TIA - R.

Sunday night in Oaxaca's Zócalo can be pretty special if the state Orchestra is playing. Even better if the state marimba is playing, but haven't seen them play for quite a while. But since it sounds like you'll be there around DoD, there may be something else going on in the Zócalo. The Quinta Real at one time had their own Guelaguetza show on Fridays. Included dinner. Don't know if that's still the case.

Thanks for all the tips - will check these out.
crellston, one I found was Lucha Libre Wrestling match at the Arena Puebla ("8:00OM - Go in the afternoon after 12 to buy tickets. Arrive at 6:30-7:00 to have a giant cemita sandwich."). Not normally a wrestling fan, but Mexican wrestling takes it to the level of high camp.
