Depart Oceania Two Days Early in Malaga, Spain

A group of 5 of us were contacted by Oceania yesterday via email that our cruise was having to make a last minute schedule change due to a possible maritime pilots strike in Lisbon, our debarkation port. Obviously, this would affect our return airline trip. We will now be departing out of Malaga, Spain. Three of us flew business class and in order to change our departure flight from Lisbon to Malaga was a substantial difference as well as adding another 6 hours to our travel time.( actually more than the original price of the round trip ticket.) We have researched several options and have decided our best option would be to debark in Cadiz, Spain and fly from Seville to Lisbon two days early. ( we really wanted to see Lisbon, one of the reasons we booked this cruise initially.) I called Oceania and explained our situation to a customer service representative and she has submitted a request for the five of us to debark early. She couldn’t tell me if we would be allowed to or how long it would take to receive a reply to our special request. Has anyone ever come across this situation before? Thanks!

Your post msy get moved to the Cruise forum here. I am not a cruiser but maybe check out Cruise Critic. They have a forum and each ship has a port call for folks to commiserate. Perhaps see if there is something there not only about this situation but maybe others will have past experiences.

Your thread has been moved to the Cruises Forum because it isn't so much about Spain as about Oceania's policies and customer service.

Sounds like this Is the November strike? I do think you will hear back relatively quickly from Oceania (yes or no).

These types of things happen and are a good reason for trip insurance.

Sometimes the cruise line helps but I think with 3 months notice now they may not.

Good idea to get on your Roll Call on Cruise Critic and ask.
