That's not good. I did briefly consider using the train for our forthcoming trip but decided against it in favour of renting a car. From what I read the project was rushed through for the year end. Never a good idea with massive infrastructure projects. Few countries manage to get it right, Japan is the only country I can think of that has an efficient rail system. Here in the UK the Crossrail project across London was massively delayed and massively over budget. HS2 High Speed rail link to the north was recently abandoned after going billions over budget.

Ticket update...

The eticket website is no longer used for buying tickets.

Now tickets can be purchased on the Tren Maya website...

Scroll down to "Boletos", click on it and complete the form.

Departure times from Cancun station are now 7:00 am and 9:00 am.

Fares Cancun to Merida-Teya...

Turista (tourist) class: MX$735.00 per person

Premier (first) class: MX$1173.50 per person
