Rome Airport security

I’m flying into Rome FCO from the US and then flying on to Sicily via ITA. Will I need to go through a security point at Terminal1? I know about arrival, bag claim etc. but just want to know if there is another area we need to go through.

I've only connected at FCO once and it was a long time ago so my memory is a bit foggy, but as far as I can remember ther was no security between an international arrival ad domestic departure (I was on one ticket)

IF you are on one ticket You will go through Immigration but you will not retrieve you luggage since it will be checked all the way through to the final destination and you will go through Customs there. . However IF they are separate bookings you will have to do both Immigration and Customs at FCO, and then security to get to the domestic Sicily flight.
