I have always liked SW too. Only trouble I ever had was when the there were no pilots for my flight and no one at SW seemed to know where they were. They finally rounded up a couple of local guys who were off duty and we all got to our destination.

On radio, I heard SW was down for 30 minutes because of an online computer glitch. There were delays but SW will/did reschedule at no charge. Delays are no fun but SW usually has good fares. I also enjoy the humor, e.g., "Buckle up; the pilot's going to try something different today." 😁

Southwest had delayed 1,820 flights or 43% of its schedule as of just after noon Tuesday, according to FlightAware. The airline has canceled only nine flights on Tuesday, according to FlightAware. Southwest says its workers “worked quickly to minimize disruptions.”
Most of the flights from Long Beach airport are on Southwest. Not my favorite airline but usually the most convenient for me. I wish there were still JetBlue flights from here, or Alaska Airlines. For Delta I have to take a small plane to Salt Lake City. I will do that just to avoid flying through LAX.

Ya pays ya money, ya takes ya chances
Looks like the widespread delays (and relatively few actual cancellations) were due to an FAA ground stop, and SW managed around it as best possible.
I used to use SW when traveling around Texas on business and thought of it as the Greyhound of the air. Never really worried about missing a flight as most always there was another one in an hour or two. Good pricing for certain, good enough to tolerate connecting itineraries, and most of the time customer service was pretty darn good. Most of the unpleasantness was owing to boorishness of other passengers.

We used to fly Southwest all the time out of Chicago in the 1990s and they were always on time and reasonably priced. We continued to use them to and from AZ until COVID. Now we will not fly with them as they seem to be constantly having problems, mechanical issues and in their service. A real shame.

Yesterday, a Southwest crew proceeded to yell at passengers over some spilled rice in the aisle. The FA went row by row asking each person if they spilled the rice. The FA said the plane would not move until they found the person and the rice was cleaned up. She delayed the flight an hour trying to find out who spilled the rice. She eventually cleaned it up while telling the passengers what she thought of them. Fun times on Southwest.
**I fly SW at least once a month. I have priority status with them and if I want to catch an earlier flight they have always gotten me on.**
Last month, I watched the Southwest bag check agent for the business/priority line proceed to wait on customers that were not business/priority. She ignored them for about twenty minutes when one businessman spoke up and asked if she was going to wait on them (it was taking so long people were getting antsy about making their flights). She yelled at him. I hope he filed a complaint as she was beyond rude to the him and the other passengers in her line (the supposedly valued WN customers).

Every airline has some crap employees (heck, I'm most loyal to AA and they certainly do have some fire breathing dragons on staff) . . . but in general over all US airlines I find WN (Southwest) to have the friendliest most genial and wiling to help. Sure -- if one 'hates' an airline they are ore likely to see more flaws . . .
There are horror stories, and 'Oh, I had a great experience!' stories on every single airline.

My personal feelings about Southwest has zero to do with them making national/international news yesterday because of the crew behavior. That is far beyond a simple crap employee when she is delaying flight schedules for not just her flight, but also all passengers that might have connections and the pilots/crew that might have other flights. Not to mention ATC at Atlanta along with gate/departure scheduling there and the ground crews in Atlanta. She disrupted hundreds of people over some rice.
