We will have an overnight layover I'm Madrid next month. It looks like our flight will go from 4S. Does this mean we will check in at T4 and take the rail to 4s?

Also, we're flying biz class and most airport hotel shuttles start running at 5am. Our flight is at 7, and I was hoping to get to the airport at 5. Do you think we'll be OK if we get there at 5:30 with biz class shortcuts? I'm learning toward taking a taxi but I am interested to hear your experiences.

I'd probably take a cab, mainly because the T4/T4S complex is beyond huge. If you're in business class, the lounges in T4S are pretty nice.

Thanks Gardy. It's been a long time since I've been to MAD and I don't remember which terminal I used.

After I posted this, I found the Nuevo Boston hotel has a 24 hour shuttle so we will take the 4am ride. Ugh th 4am, but better safe than sorry, especially at a huge terminal.

For the overnight stay, prior to the international flight: Unless you arrive in Madrid very late, I would travel into the city, not stay near the airport.

Good morning ekscrunchy. I wish there were time to go into the city, even if we could only have drinks and snacks at a tapas bar. But we will be arriving late.

MAD was a bit of a nightmare for us, in part because it was entirely new to us on last trip. We also had insufficient time to get into the city, but we stayed at a very nice and very reasonable Marriott near the airport.
