Portable seat cushion for flying?

Hi there, I am going to be taking a long haul flight in the near future, and I've read that the seat I'll be sitting in has almost no padding. I've experienced this before, and it has made for a very unpleasant flight. This time I'd prefer to be prepared with a portable seat cushion, and I was wondering if anyone could provide some advice. I recently purchased a latex mattress after quite a lot of research on how latex compresses vs memory foam vs other foams vs springs vs pillow stuffing and so on. Accordingly, I'm starting to wonder if firm latex might be suitable for a seat cushion. I know latex is good at conforming and providing progressive support as it compresses, I'm just not sure if it would be able to do so with such a concentrated pressure as is created by sitting rather than laying down. Has anyone had experience with something like this?

I've also need a lot of discussion about Purple pads. They seem to be very aggressively marketed towards office use and trucking. They appear to be foam grids that allow for very good breathability. I imagine that something like this *might* work ok, and may be a bit lighter than latex.

I think probably an inflatable is going to be just about the worst option, and I'm pretty leery of memory foam as well - I just don't think it'll provide proper resistance / support.

Has anyone had a favorable experience with a specific portable cushion? Recommendations, experiences, and general info are all very much appreciated!

Why not just buy the one you think will be best to test at home before you travel? I suspect there are a variety of thoughts on which is best, possibly depending on a number of factors (size, weight, maybe the perspiration factor, etc) & you need to come up with your own "best."

You might have a look at the seat pads offered for wheelchair users. I have
this one that I used when chair bound this one that I used when chair bound
, still use it on my recliner. It's just about the right size for an airplane seat.

Customized! And no doubt much more convenient to carry around between flights.

I've had it for decades, and unlike most cushions, this one gets more padded with time!

I, too, had a cushion for decades but unfortunately over the last couple of years it's disappeared almost completely. Good for some purposes but not others. Appreciate it while you've got it.

Medical supply stores often have very good seat cushions available.
COSTCO has good ones in their Auto supply area.
