We are in our early 70s and love to Road Trip. Although we look forward to our ultimate destination, we like to stop along the way and see things usually missed. After all, life is not about the destination, but the journey. Planning this in late November, hoping to spend Thanksgiving in Nashville. We prefer to stop every couple of hours to stretch and take in the local color so I guess we are looking for some points of interest along the way. We have no time limit but would hope to be gone for about 10 days. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at Winston Salem as a stopover. Historic "district" in Old Salem. Good food . Ask.
It's on I40 so you are on your way.
My feeling about I40 is that after knoxville, you just need to get on the road!!
