Visting the Holocaust Museum....is there a better time of day as far as crowds etc?
We will be in D.C. (our first visit) April 13-17th and I am going to be purchasing tickets for the Holocaust Museum online. I will be paying $3.50 for two tickets and an extra $1 to have them mailed to me directly.
Is there a better time of day/week to visit to avoid crowds, or doesn't it matter.
Thank you~!

I was in DC at Christmas. We got the first available time for the tickets (11:30)
I went on line right to the musuem website www.ushmm.org. I was given the option of the $3.50 service fee or having them hold the tickets at the museum for us. The tickets are free. We had them held for us. No problem at all. Be prepared to be searched purses, knapsacks, etc. The musuem was moving and what was so amazing was how much everyone I was with learned that day. No one spoke much. Even after we were done going through the museum. We were there for about 4 hours. Enjoy your trip to DC.

Toni,
Allow yourself at least four hours to see the museum. Try for tickets as early as possible in the day. I was there with my 8th grade daughter (at the time) and we ran out of time at 4 hours! Sorry I can't help with which day of the week is better, but they may be closed on Saturdays.

XX is a complete moron. DC tends to be busy in April, but according to our own Bob Levey, the tourists are staying away. I say go early in the day, avoid Fridays and week-ends if possible. Four hours is plenty; it is extremely moving and can be overwhelming. As an aside, I would not allow my daughter to go until she was almost 13 and even then it was with a chaperoned group from her Hebrew school.
