We will be arriving at SFO around 4:30 pm on a weekday and have booked a hotel near the airport (San Bruno area) for our first night to avoid rush hour traffic and to help with jet lag. Can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably priced restaurant in the SFO area, preferably one with a good variety of seafood and vegetarian options? Thanks.

Try the Hong Kong Flower Lounge, a semi-fancy Chinese restaurant in Millbrae (just south of the airport).

Lots of places to eat on El Camino Real, a major north-south street on the peninsula.

Burlingame is about 3 miles south of SFO and if you head to Burlingame Ave. there's a lot of good restaurants. In fact, I just ate at Stella Mia this past Sunday and enjoyed a delicious (and reasonably priced) meal.

Kinkaids is a seafood place south of the airport on the bay. I haven't been there in a few years, but we always got good food there in the past--went there when we had a long international layover at SFO.

I second the recommendation for Burlingame. I like Redwood Coast Brewing company, if you like brew pubs. Very nice food, beer, and ambience.

In Burlingame (on Howard Ave. near El Camino Real), there is a little Thai place called Coconut Bay, and they have delicious thai food with several seafood and vegetarian options and great prices. My husband and I ate there for $35 over the weekend (including drinks, appetizer and main dishes.)

Hong Kong Flower Lounge is super. Also in nearby San Mateo is the Fishmarket, Capellinis, 231 Ellsworth, Lark Creek, California Pizza Kitchen. Kuleto's Trattoria is close in Burlingame which also has Il Fornaio and Left at Albuquerque.

Thanks to all who replied so far! Sounds like a great selection. Would welcome more suggestions, particularly restaurants that are a little north of the airport as we're staying near Tanforan Mall. Or is that a restaurant wasteland?? (My Yahoo map search turned up lots of fast food restaurants!!!!).
