Has anyone kayaked with Adventure Coast Tours - I think they depart from Big Pine Key. Wondering which tour company best for kayaking (for the inexperienced) and also wondering about mosquitoes - are they an issue? Will be there end of next wk.

Although I have kayaked with friends in the lower Keys, I don't know any companies to use. But I do know you can plan on mosquitos, so be sure to wear repellent!

In Key West there is a company called Mosquito Coast that has been doing tours for years. The owner just recently sold the company but he sold it to 2 of his tour guides that had been with him for years. They actually leave by van out of Key West and go up the Keys and kayak out of Sugarloaf Key. It is not a "scripted" tour as every day is different. They are great for the experienced and inexperienced. Mosquitos could be an issue but it all depends on where you go. A guide should be able to give you some info but generally they are not too bad during the day.
