A repeat request - yes; but a reassurance needed...

I've had 1-2 responses about my previous inquiry on the Helmsley NY hotel, but am just wondering whether this internet rate I scored is too good to be true. Reviewing some other posts here, I looked into a site called "discount hotels... something-something dot com" and found nothing anywhere near this date/rate.

Which worried me a bit. We are not in search of luxury - (and have found hotel rooms in Paris that others complain about being too small...to be fine).
Just want....clean, convenient..and ...nothing "yucky*...

Input, please? - while there's still time to cancel (for a $50 fee) if need be...?

arjay - adding a clarifying reply to the thread won't get you many answers.

You need to post a brand new thread with "NYC" and/or "Helmsley" in the Title so people can see what the thread is about.

I assume you are talking about the Helmsley located on E. 42nd Street. If so, stop worrying - it is a good hotel located in a very good, mainly commercial area. You are close to 5th AVenue (about 1/4 mile west) and the theater district and Times Square (a little more than 1/2 mile west). Grand Central Station is one block away.

Hi:
Don't worry! As rqf said, you are in a very nice hotel and you are close to subway and bus lines. Have a great trip!

If you are staying at the Helmsley Middletowne Hotel (which I kind of assume from the location described in an above reply) it is a good hotel. Small, quiet, away from noise, yet close to Grand Central for subways or within walking distance of many major attractions. Only drawback is that there is no restaurant in this hotel. There are a few Helmsley Hotels in NYC, so it would be easier if you were able to identify excatly which one you have reserved. However, if it is the one I have described, do not worry. You made a good choice.

Hi arjay!
The New York Helmsley is east 42nd as rqf pointed out.The Helmsley Middletown is is east 48th.
The NY Helmsley has a bar and a restaurant the Helmsley Middletown has none.
I stayed, recently, at the Helmsley Middletown and can only comment on this one although i think these too are similar regarding room decoration. My room was about 35 sq feet,decoration(?)ok,2 large walk in closets, old and small bathroom (though good water pressure).
