Washington DC motel
(sorry about the other post not being clear)
Hello, We are planning to be in DC in June.
I booked a room at Howard Johnsons on 600 New
York Ave. I have looked for days for someone
who knows about this place. I would like to know if it's in a good neighborhood and not a dump. Thank You Carol

If it is in N.E. D.C., I would not stay there. I think it is. There is a Howard Johnson right across from the Watergate (about $75 a night). I stayed there and they had nice accommodations. We got a balcony facing the Watergate. The subway is about a 10 minute walk away (GW Univ().). Hint: On basement level of Watergate there is a small grocery store for your convenience. At HJ, my room had a refrigerator in it. This neighborhood is at West End part of D.C. A short walk - 15 minutes(at least to me) from Georgetown.

If I remember right, I passed the HOJO on my way out of DC in December. I would definitely NOT stay there. The area has a lot of boarded up buildings and was desolate even during the day. Look around some more for a place to stay. I used www.orbitz.com and there were all kinds of places at all kinds of prices. Good Luck!

That HoJos is in a very bad location for anything, safety & convenience. The HoJo across from the watergate was bought by GWU as a dorm. Try other online -- key is if you are driving or not. If not, I just say Jury's on Dupont Circle is avail for $79. that would be my preferred choice this weekend.
