Unanswered Marco Island, Florida Questions.... Why?

Since I made reservations yesterday for the Hilton on Marco Island, Florida, I have noticed several posts here re: Marco Island that have not been answered.
Marco looks great on paper to us, so we're going for it. But, I (as well as Carrie & Tom, & Dean) would like to hear from others who have been there.
I have gathered the Voyager at the Marriott is a nice place for dinner. The Snook Inn sounds like a fun place for drinks. Does anyone know where this place is? Can you walk there from the Hilton, or do you need to drive?
Anybody know about Everglades excursions?
Where are the people who have travelled to Marco???

For those of you, like me, that are looking for info on Marco, do what George suggested!
I just went to Google, and searched for "Marco Island, Florida". I got a ton of information!!
Thanks, George for the excellent suggestion! Kimberly

We stayed on Marco for three days at the Marriott ... The sad fact is that there just isn't much to do on the island. We found ourselves heading up to Ft Myers or even Sarasota for excitement. That said, it's a great place to unwind and just relax. The beaches are somewhat shelly and the snorkeling is non-existent, but the sailing was pretty good and there were a couple of good restaurants close by. (Don't know the Snook.) The Marriott is also a very well-run hotel with a good restaurant, and that helped. I'd probably won't visit again -- it's a long drive from Tampa and we can find places similar to Marco that are much closer.

I'm sure you'll have a nice, relaxing, quiet time.

Thanks for the acknowledgement, Kimberly. Google's been my default search engine for a couple of years now. You can also use it to search newsgroups.

People talk about Naples these days and some even say they are "going to Naples, but staying in Marco". It is quite a long drive -- at least 30 minutes at night, longer with traffic in the day. Marco is primarily a large retirement community with a very nice beach and a number of hotels on that beach -- but the above poster is right --there isn't much to do there except relax on the beach. The Voyager is what I'd call a standard Marriott hotel dining room, nothing special -- although I guess they still serve a nice brunch buffet on Sunday if you are into that. The Snook Inn is on the bay, a drive (not a walk) from the Hilton. It is a fun place for drinks and casual food -- but more for the setting than the food.

I did not answer your question which kept getting repeated yesterday. If it didn't get answered once, I'm not sure why you just kept reposting it. Bringing it to the top by posting under it something like "still looking for help" and then hitting post would be better. That way there would only be one message, not several. I can't speak about the hotel rooms as I've never been in them. You need to at least scan through the current posts -- maybe the first 150 to 200. There was one here just yesterday which I answered about Everglades excursions. I'm not sure if it was your question or someone else's?

hello we went to Marco Island last summer and stayed at the South seas tower condo. the Snook Inn was a waste of time. It took hours for us to eat and the food was terrible. You would have to drive from the Hilton. Not much to do but the beach and pool. We went with the kids age 5 and 6. We drove to Keys also. Good Luck. The Hilton looks nice but the beach area was small.

Hi Kathy,
Just wondering, if you can recall: how long of a drive was it to the Keys from Marco Island?
Did you just get to Key Largo? I'm assuming one would take 41 East until you hit the Florida turnpike.
Just curious about the time factor, wondering if a drive to and from can be done comfortably in a day. Thanks, Kimberly

Kimberly, I drove to Key West from Naples last summer and it took about 4 hours. I believe Key Largo was half way around 2 hours. We stopped there and went snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park. I like going to the Snook Inn. Food isn't great but it isn't bad either. Just expect to get a sandwich, have a drink and listen to the live music.

Thanks Carmella!!
My husband is always up for an adventure, so who knows, maybe we'll drive to Key Largo for some snorkeling also. A 2 hour drive is nothing for us, we have to drive 1 hour from our house just to get to a mall. Have a nice day, Kimberly

Hello we drove from Marco Island to Marathon Keys in about 4 hours we ended up staying there at Holiday Inn for about $90 a night then the next day drove to Key West. It is long boring drive until you hit the keys. We had kids with us and there was not lots bathrooms along the way. We also ran ito a rain storm on interstate #75.Any more questions I will be happy to respond. Have a Great Trip. Kathy

I'm a little confused why you were on I-75 going from Marco to the Keys. You should have gone east on US41, not way out of the way on I-75.
