Humphery's Half Moon Hotel in San Diego

Anyone know anything about this place? Fodor's recommends it, but there are no comments in the Rants and Raves section.

It is located on Shelter Island in the Point Loma area of San Diego. This is a popular spot for boating and deep sea fishing. It is not the area where most of the tourists stay. I have never stayed at the hotel but I believe it to me mid-scale type. It is nothing fancy but I think a notch better than the budget motels. The views should be nice as its on the bay.

Stayed there awhile ago and loved the location. Quite and away from the traffic and city. Loved the view. Rooms are average

If you don't stay in Humphrey's cheapest rooms, it's not bad. Lovely grounds on quiet, beautiful, shelter island. I've stayed there probably 18 times in the last ten or fifteen years. The restaurant is not bad; dinner will run you about $25. These are mid-range accomodations.

I stayed there on business 2 years ago and had a beautiful, very large room with a full kitchen. Humphrey's is quite famous for its summer jazz concerts, and probably has jazz groups throughout the year at the restaurant. If you have a car, it's quite easy to get to the Gaslamp District and other areas of San Diego.
