Civitavecchia Taxi from Cruise Ship to Railway Station

Hi!

Can anyone tell me if taxis are available from the cruise ship pier (Crystal) to the railway station. I need to go to Rome Termini and then on to Florence by train. I cannot lug my luggage. I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Do you want to take the taxi to the Civitavecchia train station or to Roma Termini station? Either way, there will be taxis waiting.

I researched car services for someone last year and found rates between 120 and 150 euros for a transfer between the port and Roma Termini. A taxi driver might be willing to negotiate a rate, and/or you could share the taxi with other passengers.

The train from Civitavecchia to Roma Termini would cost 4.50-9.00 euros and take 60-90 minutes depending on the departure.

In my own experience there will be taxis waiting. The train station is located about a ten-15 minute totally flat walk from the port entrance and there is no way you can know for certain exactly which berth your ship will end up occupying. Some are within sight of the entrance and some not. I add this information and yes I am well aware that you've decided you are unable to lug your belongings but I want you to have a clearer picture of the situation.

Now, as to those taxis..BE PREPARED because a LOT of them are going to WANT to take you all the way to Rome itself..and you may have to approach a couple or more before finding one who will settle for a much lower fare.

Jean has given what I agree is a reasonable estimate of the cost of a train ride all the way to Termini. There is NO need to buy tickets in advance as these are, for the most part, Second Class "regional' services originating in Civitavecchia although there are a few other trains that stop there on the way to and from Rome; the one you want will be one of the regionals which originates there.

These regionals are just that: MILK RUNS..they stop all along the way which is why it will take you an hour or more to get into Termini.

The cruise line, and ESPECIALLY Crystal, is going to offer some sort of convenient transfer service to you and it will cost accordingly..much more than the train; probably less than an unshared taxi.

Enjoy your trip.
