A couple of maybe silly questions about Puerto Rico
We 're leaving in two days for Puerto Rico, and I'm very excited. A couple of things occurred to me that I don't know the answers to.
1) For our electrical appliances, does PR use the same voltage and plug shapes as the rest of the US, or will we need adapters like when we go to Europe? I'm guessing it's like the rest of the US, but I don't want to be caught unprepared.
2) Is the water safe to drink, and fresh fruit and salads safe to eat? When we've traveled to Mexico and Eastern Europe, we've avoided tap water and fresh fruit and salads; nothing will spoil a vacation faster than an intestinal bug. Do we have to be careful, or is it as safe as the mainland US?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions for me.

It's just like travelling to another state.
Same plugs, safe water, same shops, only difference main language here is Spanish (but most people will know some English, more in the tourist areas).
Try the local food as much as possible, it's delicious

Puerto Rico has the same voltage as USA. You won't need an adapter, so you can travel without one. Our fruits, vegetables and water go through the same inspections from the USDA as the USA. I personally drink tap water and never have been sick from it. I also have the luxury to pick fruits and vegetables from the side of the road and not get sick from it. We are a very well developed island and everything you find in the US you can get here.

Sara, if you make it to the south side of El Yunque, there's a little restaurant/bar on 191 about 3/4 of the way up the mountain from Naguabo called the Rainforest Hideaway. It's only open in the afternoon, but the mofongo was the best we had, and the tostones were great too! The entrees were just ok, but it was cheap- like $10 for 2. And the view is fantastic. The owner will send you outside with her binoculars once she realizes you're a tourist.
