Bay Area Foodies - Michelin Rates restaurants
The French Co, Michelin, has rated bay area restaurants. Only French Laundry scores all 3 stars. Only 28 total restaurants (out of 356) receive any stars.

And only something like 37 out of 500 NY restaurants received stars--your point is what that Michelin doesn't award stars very liberally? Or that the SFBay Area doesn't have good restaurants?
The San Francisco Bay Area has a much smaller universe of restaurants than New York does. I wasn't surprised that Michelin awarded fewer here than it did in New York. Also, France influences San Francisco dining much less than in New York. It is also well recognized that food here is less elaborate than elsewhere. Many wondered if the Michelin raters would respond to the Asian and Latin influences in our cuisine as well as the whole Alice Waters influenced cuisine. Apparently they did not.
I seriously doubt that the stars will have much impact on local diners, they may have some affect on tourists

Here's what SFGate said:
"Only 28 restaurants earned stars in Michelin's first-ever ranking of the Bay Area food scene, compared with 39 in New York, where the French guide released its first American edition last year."
Were they editorializing?
Hope those interested enjoy seeing who made the cut and which of their faves did not. Like was previously said it probably won't change anything much but it's always a hoot to see things get stirred up!
