Need Reputable Local Tour Operators in Morocco
Hi Everyone,
Starting a new thread here to hopefully get some additional responses. Of course, my guide book lists many Moroccan tour operators though I figured I’d first solicit opinions from well-traveled folks on this board.
Just a note, I have already contacted two operators strongly recommended by folks on this board. I didn’t enjoy working with one as I didn’t find that he answered my questions directly and the second I haven’t heard back from. (That’s why I keep posting on my separate itinerary thread.) Very possibly, these operators have grown quite a bit since they were originally recommended. (No offense to anyone - I’m sure they are still very capable.)
Any suggestions before I hit up the operators listed in my book?
Thanks as always!

We did begin working with someone who is very helpful though will definitely keep this recommendation very close.
Question - we will be going from Marrakesh to Fez as well and wondered whether it should take 4 or 5 days - end to end. We are thinking 5 since this will also be our highlight and we want to have plenty of time to stop, hike around, see the villages, etc.
Thanks again!!

Honestly, staying longer is always worth it, you won’t get enough of Morocco, each place has its own unique vibe and experience.
If you have the time, 5 days is a great option. It also allows you to travel at a slower pace and really enjoy each stop.

FWIW, sueblue, I have the sense that you are spending FAR more time researching tour options than it would take to plan an independent trip. I could be wrong!

4 days is usually enough for this route(Marrakech to Fes via Desert) and is also the most common choice. A comfortable plan is crossing the High Atlas on the first day, reaching the desert with two nights there, then continuing to Fes on the last day.
If you prefer a slower pace and want to avoid a longer final drive to Fes, 5 days can work well by adding an overnight stop halfway before reaching Fes.

Thanks all . . . So appreciate the guidance!
Kja, quite an astute observation (😉
though I am planning this on and off for sure! Thinking I should just hitch a ride on your next trip though and follow you around! Lol lol lol. Since we’re going to have only 2 days in most places, I don’t want to waste any time fumbling around (which I usually love).

Instead of seeking a tour company for your entire trip:
- Pick a desert camp that offers options for getting there and away.
- For local guides in Fez or Marrakech or other cities ... make arrangements in advance with your lodging.
