Brisbane

Hello travelers, I will be in Brisbane starting March 5th for approximately a week. I will be doing all the usual sites but I'm looking for something different. I enjoy meeting locals so Looking for where the locals Hangout such as coffee shops, restaurants, Recreation and any hidden areas or districts.

Are you staying in the city? Locals tend to 'hang out' in their neighbourhood. Areas you could check are West End, New Farm, Bulimba. Public transport is good - buses and ferries, and trains to a lesser extent - so no need for a car unless you want to travel further out. Parking in the city is expensive, difficult in the inner city areas. There are loads of locals doing ParkRun on Saturday morning at New Farm Park, other areas too if that's of interest.

Thank you so much for your reply. I pass it on to my friend who is organizing the trip for us. I will keep you posted as to where we will be staying.

You might enjoy Howard Smith Wharves, walk down to the river (close to where you are staying) and along the riverwalk. Or you could get the CityCat but it's only one stop to HSW. There are great river and bridge views, places to eat and drink. It gets very busy, you'd need to book ahead for a meal.

If you go up in the lift closest to the hotel under the bridge, there are wonderful views down the river. Just be careful of e-scooters speeding past, there are lots of accidents.
