Recommendations for tent-based mountain hiking in Dolomites in early June?
I'd like to do about 2 weeks of mountain hiking roughly from 1-14 June, somewhere in the Dolomites. (I'll be coming from Germany then flying out of Milan).
Obviously it's a little bit early in the season, and I gather many mountain huts will not be open yet (and there may be too much snow in places etc).
My budget would also prefer camping rather than paying for huts every nights (and I tend to prefer the peace anyway). I'm ok with camping in legal grey areas but nothing too blatantly illegal/inappropriate.
I'm pretty comfortable solo hiking and have a fair bit of experience in many mountainous regions.
I'm looking for suggestions for routes to look into. The Alta Via 1 looks awesome but logistically complicated and hard to get a straight answer on the feasibility of camping. Mostly I just like getting close to big mountains since we don't have anywhere I live.
Ideally I'd like a long hike with some resupply points, but if that's not practical, a few shorter hikes is fine too.
Thanks heaps for any help.
