I have a few questions about Swiss train/bus tickets. If I buy a Super Saver Ticket, it says it's only valid for the designated journey. However, some of the transfers between legs are only 3 or 4 minutes. If I miss a connection because I'm slow to figure out where I'm supposed to go or the previous leg is late, can I just continue on with the same ticket?

With the Saver Day Pass and Super Saver Tickets, how far in advance should I be looking to buy before availability runs out? I'm travelling mid-June.

I would like to visit the mountain/s above Silvaplana (e.g. Corvatsch). Can anyone suggest a good plan for the day to do this? Is it straightfoward (and suitable for a person of average fitness) to walk down from the top to the lake or are there better hikes? I believe that the half fare card is not valid for these cable cars - have I understood that correctly?

It's ages since I visited Switzerland so any and all information would be welcome.

I don't know if it's better, but FWIW, one of my favorite walks in Switzerland was in that area: Funicular to Muottas Muralg, walk (about 4 miles, IIRC) to Alp Languard, cable car to Pontresina. Suitable (IMO) for someone of average fitness, it offers absolutely breathtaking views!

Can’t answer all your questions- but if you’re headed for Corvatsch a lovely walk is from the middle station Murtel to Fuorcla Surlej, can walk on into next valley Roseg or return after lunching at Fuorcla Surlej, amongst those mountain top views and then can walk from Murtel to Sils or return to Silvaplana and walk to Sils along the lake - a beautiful flat walk

Make an example in order that I can understand your question.

Saver Day passes can be bought up to 6 months ahead.
Butr it doesn't make any sense to buy a Saver day Pass so long in advance for a touristic journey that you will only do if the weather is fine.

Thanks neckervd, I’ll look into your hiking suggestions as I’ll probably have only a few days and will have to be selective.

My concern about the journey is what happens if I miss a connection. I will be moving on to another destination (new hotel) and the journey has multiple changes, all with tight connection times.

I asked that for good reasons. There are connections on same (or even other) plateforms where the connecting train or bus ALWAYS waits (at least during 10 min or so) and there are others.
I can oly give a good answer if I know the specific case.

I’m glad you checked as I misled you, thinking Corvatsch offered a half fare discount.

We tended to choose to increase transfer times (you can do that on the SBBApp) if the connection mattered.
Occasionally we missed a train as the arriving train was a few minutes late and if we had a long platform to exit, a crowded platform and it was hard to bolt to departing train, so we just waited for the next one.

But leaving Thun, back when we did that route, there was a SBB schedule that had a very short transfer to the GEX in Brig so I opted for a longer transfer time as I did not want to miss that.
There were (surprisingly) empty seats on that GEX train and the conductor told us passengers had missed the connection.

We would ask the conductor if the connecting bus or train would wait, when our train was late, and they always knew - so we were then ready to exit quickly knowing bus/ train was waiting, or knew it was missed and we didn’t have to rush to alight. .

There is no reduction for sure!

To Adelaiden:
according to the SBB timetable, a connection between trains coming from Spiez and others leaving for Andermatt is not guaranteed at Brig if the transfer time is less than 7 min.
