Longer stay in Osaka, or Hiroshima?

Hi everyone, new to this forum. I’ve booked 5 nights Tokyo, 2 nights Hakone and 5 nights in Kyoto during Sakura season. I have 3 nights left to book before heading back to Tokyo for overnight stay before flight home. We can stay one night in Osaka and two in Hiroshima, or should we just do day trips from Kyoto?

Welcome to Fodor's!

It really depends on exactly you want to see and experience, but FWIW, Hiroshima has more than enough, IMO, to see to justify a stay of at least 2 nights, especially if you include some time in Miyajima.

Are you considering any day trips from Kyoto other than Osaka? (It's so close that I, personally, wouldn't relocate.) What about Nara? Himeji? If any of those appeal, adding time to Kyoto would make a lot of sense.

If you haven't already seen it, japan-guide.com is a truly excellent resource for travel in Japan.

We stayed 2 nights in Hiroshima. We spent the time visiting the Peace Memorial and then we took a fast boat to Miyajima for the day. It was great. I would recommend.
