Rome Transport Tap & Go

Last year in Rome we used our credit card to "Tap & Go" all over the bus system. However, at the time, we were under the impression that it does not work on the FL lines. (We take FL1 from FCO to Trastevere.) We will be in Rome again later this year. The ATAC website seems to indicate that now we can use our credit cards to tap & go on the FL1 train...but it's not really clear about that.

Are there tap & go readers for the FL1 train?

Thanks.

FL1 from the airport isn't ATAC. Technically FL1 is never ATAC.

I think the express can use tap and go but not the FL1

Roma-Lido e Roma-Viterbo - tratta urbana -) dotate di tornelli di ingresso
You'll notice the bit that mentions urban. That's the ATAC section and the ticket costs €1. The FL1 from the airport is €8 I think

For the airport you'd need to look here

https://www.trenitalia.com/en/inform...p-and-tap.html

You can also use TAP&TAP to travel on the Leonardo express from Roma Termini to Fiumicino Airport and vice versa
NB I've no idea how that makes sense at Termini. Unless you sneak in you need a ticket at the gate before the platform

Thanks...I thought it didn't work. We took the FL1 last year (and years before, too)...bought tix at the airport station machine...pretty easy once we found a machine that worked.
I have hesitated to buy online because the plane might be delayed...UNLESS (and maybe you can confirm this)...the ticket is good on any train the same day. The Trenitalia site indicates time changes can only be made BEFORE the train departs, so a delayed flight would mess us up.

If you have the app you can always use your phone to buy a ticket.

Depending on which station you're heading to the buses might make more sense

Our rental is always in the ghetto near Largo Argentina...so we always have taken the FL1 to Trastevere and then the tram, Easy and cheap...even easier now that the tram has tap & go.

When I was in Rome in June of last year, only one bus I rode had the tap & go machine. The rest all had the old machines. I'm not surprised to hear a lot more now have tap & go. Can you also tap a bus ticket? Just wondered, since I have a couple tickets left over. Also, not crazy about having to pull out a credit card every time I get on a bus.

Yes tickets still work. Most regular users are likely using a pass . For the occasional user ticket works just fine.
