One day to tour Zanzibar
We are going to Zanzibar for 4 nights after we finish safari in Tanzania next month. We are staying north of stone town at the tip of the island and are planning one full day of snorkeling. We want to relax and enjoy the resort for one full day leaving us with one day to tour. We want to see stone town but beyond that we are not sure. I have reviewed many of the places that are suggested but any suggestions of what stands out would be appreciated. We are definite foodies. Like a little nature but will have just been on 12 days of safari so don't need a lot more. Thanks in advance!

We visited Stone Town with a local guide (don't set your expectations too high) and did a guided spice tour. Unfortunately it's not a good time for full-grown spices so we only saw some seeds and at the end of the short tour the obligatory little shop.

I visited Stone Town and perhaps stayed at the same place you are staying at...the tip. Serena Hotel
I also went after a 2 weeks Safari.
I took the same tour that MyriamC took and then did a complete tour of Stone Town with a private guide.
There is a unique City Gate that you can walk through and enjoy the Fordorhani Garden, the Arab Fort and the Sultans Palace.
There is a Slave Market Memorial beside the Cathedral and a Plaque inside the Cathedral and a Cross made of wood from the tree
that Livingston's heart was buried .
You can walk to the Livingstone house and take pictures........ they should take better care of this Memorable House.
Along the main street towards the end is one of the biggest Banyan Trees I have seen.
Plus they have Market Places and outdoor cooking markets, we ate there a few time , food was great
Also not too far from your hotel is The Africa House
Go here for sure and have a beer on the outside balcony and admiral the view.
I would do this , ask one of the bartenders what table what table Livingstone always sat with his friends.
We sat there had a beer called Tusker and just love the shady place with a table umbrella and the 100F heat and the ocean view.
Also see the House of Wonders , go in there walk around on the second balcony and just enjoy what you see .
