Walking food tour in Calabria?
Hello,
We will be in Reggio Calabria for 5 nights in early October. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good food walking tour in or near Reggio? Any experiences or ideas are very welcome!
Cheers!

We were there a year ago. My advice is a bit different, designed to give a twist or some added value for your tour. The quasi-ghost town of Pentedatillo is like a sort of Calabrian Matera. There are no permanent restaurants there just yet BUT Reggio guides (inc. the one we hired) take tours of the place which include lunch at the home of a well-known local resident woman. To eat outdoors on her patio with good cheer, those rarefied remote park views and not a modern sound to be heard, is worth the effort.
That right there, was why we travel.
I am done. the end.

If you are renting a car (or bringing your own!), I could share some rural restaurants I found while digging into the topic of food for an as-of-yet unscheduled return to Calabria. (I've never been to Reggio, however). If you would like some background reading material, I always recommend the 2003 travel memoir by Mark Rottela, STOLEN FIGS:
