We are finishing a river cruise on the Danube at Vienna and have 8 nights to get back to London Heathrow for flight home . I am looking for ideas about where to visit by train near the Alps in Austria and Germany. Switzerland looks so beautiful, but is very expensive, so I am looking for places in the other 2 countries. It looks like it might be best to fly to Heathrow from Munich or Frankfurt . Thanks for any advice. Donna

Vienna - Attnang-Puchheim - Bad Ischl - Hallstatt - Stainach-Irdning - Zell am See - Innsbruck - Seefeld - Garmisch - Ehrwald - Ulrichsbruecke-Fuessen - Kempten - Lindau im Bodensee - (ferry) - Mainau Island - (ferry) - Konstanz - Schaffhausen/Rhine Falls - Singen - Triberg - Gengenbach - Offenburg/Strasbourg - Speyer - Worms - Mainz - Bingen - (ferry) - Koblenz - Cologne - Brussels - London

BTW: Paris - Brussels would just be a 1 1/2 hrs train ride.
