Hello fellow fodorites,
Visiting Norway in August 2025 as part of a bigger trip and had been planning my itinerary based on research here and another site. We will be flying into Bergen and need to end in Oslo before flying north to the Lofotens.
I had been leaning toward the Sognefjord in a Nutshell itinerary but after watching the Bergen to Balestrand section on You Tube I feel a little underwhelmed and realise I will miss the Nærøyfjord.

I'm now wondering if we do the train option from Bergen > Voss (hubby loves trains so another reason to consider this option), bus to Gudvangen and then the cruise into Flam it seems we could still catch the catamaran to Balestrand in the afternoon, spend our two nights there and then catamaran back to Flam two days later to continue on to Oslo.

I had already booked two nights in Balestrand (and of course now not much accommodation in Flam or Gudvangen) - is there any reason this wouldn't work? Just looking to reassure myself that this is feasible!
I'm planning to try and book all independently.
